Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior/Principal Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary water projects in Scotland, from feasibility through to design, construction support and commissioning. The Water Team in Scotland numbers over 150 professionals with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and Inverness.

We deliver a diverse portfolio shaping sustainable water systems and manage complex contracts, including frameworks with Scottish Water.

Qualifications

• Degree in Project Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Strong track record delivering projects successfully.
• Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts advantageous.
• Chartered or working towards professional membership (APM, PMI, CIOB, ICE, RICS) desirable.
• Security clearance checks may be required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver projects in line with client and AECOM requirements.
• Define project scope, schedule, resources and risks.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams.
• Mentor and develop Project Managers and other team members, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Manage project commercial performance, including forecasting, costs and cash flow.
• Oversee effective contract administration and quality delivery.
• Manage subcontractors and suppliers where required.
• Contribute to business development through proposals, client engagement and future opportunities.
• Champion a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture.

As a Senior/Principal Project Manager, you will lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver water sector projects from feasibility through to design, construction support and commissioning. We have over 150 people in the Water Team in Scotland, with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and Inverness.

We are delivering a diverse and high-impact portfolio of projects that are shaping sustainable and resilient water systems for generations to come.

We are a Primary Designer onScottish Water’s SR27 Enterprise.This is a transformational multi-billion-pound programme and will reshape Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure from 2027 to 2033 (with potential to extend for another 6 years). Alongside SR27 we are delivering a number of frameworks both direct, and via design and build contractors, to Scottish Water.

Additionally, we have a strong flood and surface water management team providing complex integrated river and coastal modelling, flood prevention and restoration schemes through a number of frameworks, including Excel Scotland.

Responsibilities

• Deliver projects in line with client and AECOM requirements
• Define project scope, schedule, resources and risks

About You

• Extensive experience managing projects within consultancy, engineering or infrastructure environments
• Experience in leading bids, proposals or business development activities
• In-depth knowledge of NEC contracts, particularly PSC
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary and multi-organisation teams
• Able to balance multiple priorities and work collaboratively
• Proficient in project management and digital collaboration tools
