Job summary

Rullion Ltd is seeking a Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer for a design consultancy role based from the St Albans office, with travel to sites as needed. The position offers hybrid working and can be contracted outside IR35 or permanent.

You will lead design delivery, coordinate CAD technicians, and liaise with M&E suppliers to ensure compliant solutions. The ideal candidate has 5–10+ years in UK water mechanical design, with a relevant graduate or technician background and active IT

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of mechanical design experience in the UK water sector.
• Graduate, HND or significant technician level experience.
• Good IT skills and professional body registration pursuit.

Responsibilities

• Provide design deliverables satisfying safety and quality requirements.
• Produce calculations and drawings for water industry projects.
• Direct and develop CAD technicians.
• Prepare scopes and review M&E design subcontract output.
• Engage with suppliers and prepare tender specifications.
• Prepare investigations, reports and design specs.
• Ensure design remains compliant with standards.
• Estimate hours and present at design meetings.

Senior/Principal/Mechanical Engineer

My client is an engineering design consultancy working closely with a wide range of clients, across a number of disciplines within the UK rail and utilities industries.

Full time role from the St Albans Office with occasional site visits for which travel expenses will be paid.

Hybrid working possible when required provided agreed in advance.

Can be contract (outside IR35) or permanent role.

Responsibilities:

• Provide design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements.
• Produce design calculations and drawings for the water industry
• Direct and develop CAD technicians.
• Prepare scopes for and check output of subcontract M&E design teams
• Liaise with, prepare specifications for and review tender responses from equipment suppliers and manufacturers
• Prepare design investigations, reports and specifications.
• Design in compliance with relevant technical, professional and group standards.
• Ensure project change for design package is fully implemented and recorded.
• Estimate hours required for design packages
• Present at and attend meetings and design presentations

Essentials:

• 5-10+ years' mechanical design experience in the UK water industry
• Graduate, HND or significant experience from technician level
• Good level IT
• Registered with professional body and working towards chartership

Desirables:

• Chartered engineer
• Awareness of electrical design and control systems
• Experience in hydraulic design
• Experience in UMON schemes
• Experience in wastewater and clean water, infra and non-infra
• Awareness of construction methods and materials.
• Knowledge of engineering drawing practices.
