Job summary

Cambridge Aerospace is seeking a Senior Principal Electronics Engineer to take ownership of critical hardware development across our interceptor platform and build the electronics capability required to scale.

You will define electronics architecture, lead analogue, digital and mixed-signal hardware work, drive design decisions and guide PCB design and component selection for high‑reliability aerospace systems.

Qualifications

• Strong background in electronic hardware design and development.
• Experience leading complex product or subsystem development programmes.
• Experience with analogue, digital and mixed-signal electronics.
• PCB design and hardware architecture experience.
• Experience with aerospace, defence, autonomous systems, robotics, space or other high-reliability products.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams through difficult technical problems.
• Excellent troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Define electronics architecture across interceptor subsystems.
• Lead analogue, digital and mixed-signal hardware development.
• Drive requirements decomposition and hardware design decisions.
• Own hardware technical risk reduction activities.
• Guide PCB design, schematic reviews and component selection.
• Support RF integration and system-level performance optimisation.
• Lead verification, qualification and environmental testing activities.
• Support prototype, manufacturing and production readiness reviews.
• Grow and mentor a team of electronics engineers.
• Establish engineering best practices, review processes and design standards.
