Job description

Job Title: Senior Pricing Analyst, S&R

Overview

The Savings & Retirement Deal Pricing team is responsible for producing fees & premiums to send to clients in our global markets. The team covers a range of products across the bulk annuity market in Europe & North America, individual retirement products and a range of savings & protection benefits. Transactions span different structures including funded, longevity swaps and new business flow deals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Focus on cashflow & capital modeling, ensuring specific products & risks are appropriately captured in pricing.
  • Produce deal metrics to meet pricing hurdles & governance requirements.
  • Collaborate with client solutions team to optimize deal structures, providing a strong commercial package while maintaining an efficient capital structure for PL Re.
  • For funded deals, coordinate with S&R PPS team and Pacific Life Investments team to set an investment strategy that matches liabilities & client needs.
  • Handle pricing activities related to treaty execution, forwarding required information to the S&R inforce management team for implementation.
  • Take ownership of existing pricing tools (Tyche models and Excel models), managing production of pricing quotes and upgrading tools as required.
  • Identify inefficiencies in pricing processes & controls and implement improvements.
  • Apply knowledge of macroeconomic assumptions (interest rates, credit spreads, FX) to pricing.
  • Obtain and interpret investment data from Bloomberg and investment teams.
  • Understand drivers of capital requirements for S&R products across different reinsurance structures (economic capital, BMA, NAIC RBC).
  • Collaborate with insurance pricing and asset management teams on benefit structures and investment assumptions.
  • Develop strategies with client solutions team to manage risks such as currency, inflation, etc.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Strong technical skills to build/run actuarial models, including pricing tools.
  • Prior experience in pricing is an advantage; broad understanding of mortality and/or market risk modeling is needed.
  • Student member of IFoA or SOA and actively progressing through professional exams.
  • Ability to work independently, critically review model outputs, and sense‑check results.
  • Adaptable, thrives in a flexible, dynamic team with occasional high‑pressure deadlines.
  • Proficient in Excel and actuarial modeling software (Tyche or similar).
  • Solid grasp of market risks (interest rates, FX, credit spread, liquidity) and their impact on insurance capitalization.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex actuarial concepts verbally and in writing.
  • Additional skills are welcome: pension risk transfer markets, life‑insurance balance sheet/capital regimes, programming in VBA or Tyche.
