Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a Senior Practitioner to join the Refugee Team, supporting separated children, unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, refugee young people, care leavers and families with No Recourse to Public Funds. You will help them feel safe, settled and supported as they begin to rebuild their lives in the UK.

You will work with partner agencies to empower young people to understand their rights and entitlements, access education and healthcare, secure suitable

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people, particularly separated children, unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, refugee young people, care leavers, families with No Recourse to Public Funds, and those arriving through the Homes for Ukraine scheme
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, legislation and best practice relating to care leavers and young adults
• The confidence to manage complex situations, make sound professional decisions and support colleagues
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of partners

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload, providing practical support and guidance to help individuals thrive.
• Lead on complex cases, developing and reviewing pathway plans that focus on achieving positive outcomes.
• Support and mentor colleagues, sharing your expertise and promoting high standards of professional practice.
• Work closely with partner agencies including housing, education, health and social care services to coordinate effective support.
• Assist the Team Manager with quality assurance, service improvement and the day-to-day operation of the team.
