Job Opportunity: Senior Practitioner – Pre-Birth Team. Client: Birmingham Children’s Trust. Location: One Avenue, Birmingham. Contract: Temporary | 13 October – 9 December 2025. Hours: 37 hours/week | Monday–Friday, 08:45–17:15. Rate: PAYE £24.52/hr | Umbrella/Ltd £33.30/hr. IR35 Status: Inside IR35.

About the Role

Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking an experienced and resilient Senior Practitioner to join our fast-paced Pre-Birth Team. This is a vital role supporting vulnerable babies and families from the earliest stages of pregnancy through to post-birth planning and intervention.

Responsibilities
  • Complete extensive pre-birth assessments and safety planning.
  • Manage cases across CIN, CP, and ICO pathways.
  • Lead complex case discussions, legal planning, and pre-proceedings.
  • Assess parents with previous child removals.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency teams to address substance misuse, mental health, homelessness, and domestic abuse.
What You’ll Need
  • 4+ years’ qualified experience in children’s social care.
  • Proven expertise in pre-birth work and safeguarding.
  • Strong knowledge of legal frameworks and multi-agency practice.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet the needs of a fast-moving service.
  • Willingness to demonstrate significant knowledge at interview.
