Coventry City Council is seeking a Senior Practitioner to join our Help and Protection, Children in Care, or Fostering teams in Coventry. You will lead and deliver effective services for children, young people and families, providing professional supervision and ensuring adherence to practice standards.

The role requires flexibility to work outside office hours and a commitment to safeguarding outcomes. You must hold a Social Work England registration and have knowledge of relevant legislation,

• Knowledge of assessment methods, care management and casework methods.
• Experience of carrying out statutory work in childcare/child protection.

About the role:

Join our dedicated teams as a Senior Practitioner within Help and Protection, Children in Care, or Fostering.

You will assume a crucial role in managing and delivering effective and efficient services for children, young people, and their families.

Your responsibilities include providing professional supervision, adhering to Social Work England's code of practice, and contributing to team development. Flexibility and commitment to working outside office hours are essential to meet the diverse needs of families.

As a Senior Practitioner, you will be responsible for:

• Assessing and managing risk in complex and urgent situations.
• Providing professional advice and guidance to other agencies and professionals.
• Supervising and supporting other staff members in the team.
• Ensuring high standards of practice and record keeping.
• Contributing to the development and improvement of the service.

All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.

You will be a qualified and experienced Social Worker who has:

• A current registration with Social Work England.
• A sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• A proven ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions.
• Knowledge of assessment methods, care management and casework methods.
• Experience of carrying out a range of statutory work in childcare/child protection.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with children and young people and families
