Job summary

Peterborough City Council’s Children with Disabilities Team seeks an experienced Senior Practitioner to lead and deliver high-quality social work for children with disabilities and their families in Peterborough. This role spans from first contact to adulthood, in a specialist service designed to continuously improve outcomes.

You will provide leadership, mentor colleagues, and work within the Family Safeguarding model to support vulnerable families with creativity and professional judgement.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Substantial post-qualifying experience working with children and families.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience of statutory social work interventions.
• Experience of Child Protection, Children in Need, Looked After Children and court work.
• Committed to relationship-based practice and the principles of Family Safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Provide practice leadership and support to colleagues across the team.
• Deliver high-quality social work practice across a range of statutory interventions.
• Manage referrals and assessments, Children in Need planning, and safeguarding enquiries.
• Work with Looked After Children and court proceedings as needed.
• Promote collaborative, multi-disciplinary working and reflective supervision.
