We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Practitioner to join our Children with Disabilities team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in improving the lives of children and young people with additional needs and their families.

As a Senior Practitioner, you will lead by example, providing expert guidance to less experienced social workers and ensuring the highest quality of social work practice. This role offers the chance to work on complex cases while supporting the professional development of colleagues and promoting a strong partnership approach with families and other agencies.

Responsibilities
  • Lead on complex casework for children and families within the Children with Disabilities team.
  • Provide expert technical and professional advice to less experienced social workers.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, national standards, and best practice guidelines.
  • Support the Team Manager in ensuring high-quality service delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Foster multi-agency collaboration to enhance outcomes for children and young people.
  • Offer coaching, mentoring and quality assurance to team members.
  • Represent the Trust in key meetings and contribute to decision-making.
  • Promote a culture of learning, innovation, and high support/high challenge within the team.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
  • Substantial post‑qualifying experience in children’s social care, ideally within a Children with Disabilities setting.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989, the Care Act 2014, and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Proven ability to manage complex cases and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching other social workers.
  • Excellent communication and partnership‑working skills.
