Job summary

Oxfordshire County Council is seeking a Senior Practitioner to support Team Managers in operational management and ensure services meet Adopt Thames Valley policies. The role emphasizes safeguarding, participation, and alignment with Children's Rights in how services are delivered to children, young people and families.

You will provide case supervision, work with social workers, and ensure adherence to safeguarding policies, with a focus on adoption-related contexts.

Qualifications

  • Three years post-qualifying experience, including within adoption.
  • Experience of working with children and families within social care settings.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own work load.
  • Experience supervising others would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

Job description

Your responsibilities will include:


  • To assist the Team Managers in the operational management of the team, ensuring the highest standards of service are provided.

  • To ensure that services to users are delivered and developed according to Adopt Thames Valley policies procedures and guidance.

  • To ensure that services are planned and delivered in a way that maximises participation and reflects Children's Rights in relation to services being provided and in the way that Children, Young People and Families are worked with. To provide case supervision to social workers This post holder is responsible for ensuring that Safeguarding and Child Protection policies are adhered to and concerns are raised in accordance with these policies


Skills:


  • To maintain management information systems as required.

  • Ensure adherence to statutory and departmental policies and procedures in relation to professional and administrative matters within levels of authority, e.g. complaints, health and safety, clients, specific policies/procedures.

  • To organise work according to Departmental priorities and to be responsible for managing own workload within legal and procedural requirements.

  • To have three years post qualifying experience, including within adoption.

  • To have experience of working with children families within social care settings

  • To provide information for users/potential users regarding the nature and availability of resources.

  • To be able to use effective communication skills to facilitate good working relationships with services users


Qualifications:


  • To have worked with adopted children or adults in a direct work capacity

  • Ability to organise and prioritise own work load

  • To have previous supervisory experience
