Job summary

Trowbridge Health Centre is seeking a Senior Practice Nurse to lead infection control and run treatment room sessions. You will manage immunisations, travel vaccines and cervical screening while supporting the nursing and HCA team with day-to-day operations.

The post involves autonomous clinical decision-making, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to PMS contract targets. Current NMC registration is required and you will work within a multidisciplinary NHS primary care setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead infection control across the practice, including policies, audits and staff education.
• Undertake treatment room sessions with wound care and injections.
• Administer immunisations and vaccinations under national programmes.
• Manage PGD files and ensure staff compliance.
• Provide NHS travel vaccinations under practice protocols.
• Undertake cervical screening.
• Act as first point of contact for nursing and HCA teams on operations.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment programmes with autonomy.

Job description

A Senior Practice Nurse post at Trowbridge Health Centre, with lead responsibility for infection control across the practice. The role combines leading infection control with treatment room sessions and day-to-day operational support for the nursing and HCA team. The post holder works independently with their own clinical caseload, covering immunisations, travel vaccines and cervical screening alongside wound care and injectable medicines. Current NMC registration is required.

What the job involves

• Lead infection control across the practice, overseeing policies, audits and staff education
• Undertake treatment room sessions including wound dressings, stitch removal and injectable medicines
• Administer child and adult immunisations and vaccinations under national and local programmes
• Manage PGD files and ensure staff compliance with them
• Provide NHS travel vaccinations under practice protocols
• Undertake cervical screening
• Act as first point of contact for the nursing and HCA team on day-to-day operational issues
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment programmes, making autonomous clinical decisions
• Mentor and support nurses and staff to develop clinical skills, and take part in clinical supervision
• Initiate health screening programmes and provide chaperoning
