Job summary

Alpine Racing UK is seeking a Senior Powertrain Design Engineer to join the Powertrain Design group in Enstone. You will own designs for powertrain components and subsystems, including fluid systems and PU-facing items, applying engineering fundamentals and a rigorous, right-first-time approach.

You should have a degree in Engineering and strong analytical and mentoring skills. CAD experience with Catia V5/3DX is preferred, and you will collaborate across the team and departments to deliver

• Degree in Engineering or equivalent
• Experience in powertrain design or high-level motorsport
• Self-motivated with analytical and pragmatic decision-making

Responsibilities

• Contribute to detailed design specifications from cradle to grave, defining and supporting component validation, servicing and utilisation, and resolving issues as they arise.
• Responsibilities include: concept design and scheming components; detailing machined parts; detailing composite components and applicable tooling; design and specification of build tooling for complex assemblies.
• Be capable of technically leading a project, liaising with Chief Engineer(s), other Design Section and Departments, and highlighting timing conflicts.
• Mentor less experienced Engineers through engineering best practice and technically approve work of others as part of Design sign-off

The role of our Senior Powertrain Design Engineers: You will be part of the team behind all our complex powertrain components and sub-systems, taking ownership of your own designs with the opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge. Project ownership within the Powertrain section includes components across car fluid systems (Water/Oil(s)/Hydraulics/Fuel), as well as PU-facing systems such as Tailpipe and Air Horn. Component design spans machined metallics and composite components for internal airflow management.

Your Challenge:

• Contribute to detailed design specifications from cradle to grave, defining and supporting component or system validation, servicing and utilisation and resolving any issues as they arise.
• Responsibilities include but are not limited to: concept design and scheming components; detailing machined parts; detailing composite components and applicable tooling; design and specification of build tooling for complex assemblies.
• Be capable of technically leading a project, liaising as required with Chief Engineer(s), other Design Section and Departments across the Team as required, and highlighting/escalating technical and timing conflicts that may occur
• Be able to mentor less experienced Engineers through demonstration of Engineering best practice, and technically approve work of others as a fundamental part of Design sign-off

Who we want:

We are looking to enhance our talented team with someone who has extensive experience, ideally within F1 or another high-level motorsport. You should be educated to degree level or equivalent in Engineering and have a solid base knowledge of engineering first principles. We need someone who is self-motivated, analytical, and a pragmatic decision-maker capable of working with minimal supervision. We seek someone with a creative, innovative, and consistent approach to problem-solving, with a strong attention to detail to deliver right-first-time solutions.
