Job description
The team you'll be working with:

We're seeking an experienced Power Systems Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power distribution and transmission infrastructure, with expertise in UK Grid standards.

What you'll be doing:
  • Design of power distribution and transmission infrastructure
  • Expertise in power protection systems design and testing

Proficient in power systems analysis including:

  • Load flow
  • Thermal constraints
  • Voltage analysis

Strong understanding of electrical equipment:

  • Switchgear
  • Substation equipment
  • Overhead cables
  • Specific experience in substation design up to UK Grid Supply Point (GSP) level – 132/133kV
  • Skilled in protection relay settings
  • Familiarity with real‑time systems in a power distribution context
  • Hands‑on experience in physical implementation of connections and reinforcement

Knowledge of network planning applications such as:

  • DigSilent PowerFactory
  • Protection design toolsets
  • Substation design toolsets
  • Prepare technical reports compliant with UK Grid codes
What experience you'll bring:

Minimum 5 years’ experience across the above areas

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

Master’s degree or PhD in Power Systems Engineering (ideal)
