Job summary

Pirbright Institute is seeking a Senior Postdoctoral Scientist to deliver a programme of applied research focused on novel diagnostic platforms for livestock diseases. You will develop collaborations with international partners and translate advances into practical disease control tools.

The role emphasizes leadership of researchers, high-quality publications, and effective communication with funding bodies.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in biosciences.
• Evidence of excellent oral and written communication with funding bodies, peer-review groups and government agencies.
• Evidence of producing high quality publications in peer‑reviewed journals.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a programme of applied research targeting diagnostic platforms for livestock diseases.
• Maintain and develop research networks with academic and industrial partners, including overseas collaboration.
• Direct line-management of junior staff and contribute to on-call rotas for out-of-hours testing when needed.
