Job Overview

A Vacancy at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – a Band 6 Post Anaesthetic Care Practitioner position at Sefton Suite Private Patient Unit within the grounds of Aintree University Hospital Trust. The role requires an HCPC/NMC registered ODP/RN to join the theatre team.

Responsibilities
  • Safe admission of patients to and discharge from the theatre back to the ward or critical care.
  • Co‑ordinating a busy recovery area and ensuring effective communication with theatres and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Facilitating education, training, and providing experienced support and guidance to the team.
  • Planning, delivering and evaluating all aspects of immediate post‑operative patient care.
  • Assisting in the day‑to‑day running of the recovery area and ensuring effective collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintaining professional standards, adhering to Trust and departmental dress code policy, and ensuring accurate record keeping in line with HCPC/NMC standards and the Caldicott report.
  • Communicating sensitive, confidential information to patients, families and staff using empathy, negotiation and reassurance.
  • Demonstrating the ability to work autonomously and delivering expert, skilled care to highly dependent patients.
Qualifications
  • HCPC/NMC registered ODP/RN at Band 6 level with relevant experience in post‑anaesthetic care.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Capacity to work autonomously and take responsibility for the safe admission and discharge of patients.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and demonstration of a personal professional portfolio.
  • Understanding and adherence to HCPC/NMC code of professional conduct and Trust policies, procedures and guidelines.
Work Hours & Shifts

The position involves a variety of shift patterns, including evenings and weekends. Participation in an on‑call rota may be required depending on service needs.
