Job summary

Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru / Natural Resources Wales seeks a experienced professional to lead policy and project work on abandoned metal mines in Wales. You will direct monitoring, assess evidence needs and coordinate cross‑government collaboration to deliver remedial solutions.

You will work flexibly in a hybrid pattern, with visits to sites and meetings across Wales, and you will hold a relevant degree and professional credentials as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in an environmental discipline with relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Welsh and UK policy drivers and legislation related to abandoned mines.
  • Experience in pollution contexts and programme/project management environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and project manage complex policy issues and programmes.
  • Advise WG and other bodies on policy, plans and strategies.
  • Own policy area integrity with Welsh Government and EU policy intent.
  • Identify evidence needs, commission evidence and manage projects.
  • Maintain awareness of legislative, technology and market changes.
  • Contribute to business boards and engage with Welsh Government.
  • Develop a Personal Development Plan with the Team Leader.
  • Participate in health and safety duties and equality policies.
