Senior Policy and Project Officer
- Hourly Rate: £28.42 PAYE/ £37 Ltd Umbrella

We are seeking an experienced Senior Policy and Project Officer to join our Equalities team within the Communities & Skills Directorate. This role is crucial for scoping, developing, and delivering programmes and projects related to social policy areas, reflecting agreed Mayoral and partnership priorities. The position offers a hybrid working model and is based in Southwark, London.
Day-to-day of the role
- Lead on programme management and implementation of agreed projects, including managing externally commissioned projects and contracts.
- Provide expert advice on Mayoral programmes, policies, and strategies, including written and oral briefings for the Mayor and advisers.
- Work collaboratively with programme and policy teams within the organisation to ensure integration and interdisciplinary working.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key partners and stakeholders across various sectors to inform and further programme and policy development.
- Maintain a high standard of awareness of legislative, technical, and policy changes linked to the policy/programme area.
- Support communications related to the policy/programme area through various media outlets.
- Contribute to corporate performance reporting and manage resources in accordance with the Authority’s policies and standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Expert knowledge and experience in relevant social policy, particularly within a London context.
- Proven track record of successful project management, delivering results on target, within budget and timescales.
- Strong experience in policy and programme development within a complex political environment.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and event management skills.
- Proficient in developing partnerships and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, capable of presenting ideas clearly and convincingly.
