Job summary
Automation Experts in Coventry is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to design and develop PLC software for bespoke automation systems across diverse sectors. The role offers a £40-60k salary with overtime, a pension, and OTE around £70k, plus excellent training and development opportunities.
You'll work on Siemens TIA Portal/S7 and Rockwell Studio 5000 projects, with flexible or hybrid working during design phases and UK-wide site deployments as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience writing PLC software for industrial automation or machinery.
- Strong knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal/S7 and Rockwell Studio 5000.
- Experience with machine safety concepts and functional safety.
- Experience configuring VFDs, servo drives and motion control hardware.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and produce clear documentation.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop PLC software using Siemens TIA Portal/S7 and Rockwell Studio 5000.
- Support legacy Siemens S7 Classic, STL and IL software.
- Develop HMI and machine safety software per project specs.
- Configure/commission VFDs, servo drives and motion control systems.
- Work with ProfiNet, Profibus, EtherNet/IP and similar networks.
- Read electrical drawings and produce FDS, O&M manuals.
- Commission systems on customer sites across the UK, with occasional overnight stays.
