Leonardo UK Ltd is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to lead secure platform design and delivery across on‑prem, highly controlled, and hybrid environments. You will mentor engineers, own technical delivery, and coordinate across teams while working at our Bristol site with activities at Yeovil and other secure locations.

The role requires Developed Vetting (DV) clearance prior to starting and highly structured, security‑conscious delivery.

Qualifications

• Extensive platform and infrastructure engineering experience in secure, regulated environments.
• Ability to lead design, delivery and governance for secure platforms.
• Strong judgement to balance hands-on work with leadership and delivery oversight.
• Experience mentoring engineers and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
• Clear communication of progress, risks and engineering decisions.

Responsabilités

• Act as a technical authority across one or more platform engineering domains.
• Lead design, integration and implementation of secure platforms across on‑prem, controlled, and hybrid/cloud environments.
• Maintain hands-on involvement to resolve complex problems and provide assurance.
• Translate customer requirements into platform designs and activities.
• Develop and assure high- and low-level designs aligned with secure-by-design principles.
• Own technical delivery within work packages, including planning and risk management.
• Coordinate technical direction across engineering teams and ensure delivery quality.
• Mentor and develop junior and senior engineers.
• Support recruitment, technical screening and onboarding as required.
• Engage with stakeholders and justify engineering decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement through automation and standardisation.
• Contribute to technology strategy, feasibility studies and future capability planning.
