Job summary

KDR Talent Solutions is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer for a fintech-focused role in London, hybrid working. You will build and evolve cloud infrastructure (AWS), work with Kubernetes and serverless tech, and automate deployment with IaC tools, shaping platform engineering across the business.

You will improve CI/CD pipelines, tooling, and developer experience while driving observability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency as the team grows.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes or containerised production environments.
• In-depth Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Experience building and improving CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong focus on observability, reliability and production engineering.
• Ability to automate infrastructure and engineering processes.

Responsibilities

Senior Platform Engineer - Fintech - London Hybrid

Salary - £120,000 - £150,000 + Bonus and Equity

A fast-growing fintech is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join a small but expanding engineering team and help shape the platform behind a rapidly scaling financial product.

This is very much a build, improve and automate role.

The platform is evolving quickly as the business grows, so you'll have the opportunity to influence how infrastructure is designed, how engineers deploy software and how the wider engineering team interacts with the platform.

You'll be working in an environment where Platform Engineers are expected to solve problems, automate wherever possible and take ownership rather than simply maintain infrastructure that's already there.

What you’ll be doing

• Building and evolving cloud infrastructure primarily within AWS


• Working with Kubernetes, containers and serverless technologies


• Building infrastructure through code using tools such as Terraform, OpenTofu or AWS CDK


• Improving CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation


• Creating better self-service tooling and paved roads for software engineers


• Improving developer experience across the engineering organisation


• Building observability into the platform using tools such as Datadog, Grafana or OpenTelemetry


• Improving reliability, scalability, security and cloud cost efficiency


• Working closely with Software Engineers rather than operating as a separate infrastructure function


• Taking ownership of technical problems from initial idea through to production


• Helping influence platform architecture and engineering standards as the company scales

What we’re looking for

• Strong hands-on experience building cloud infrastructure, ideally within AWS


• Good experience with Kubernetes or containerised production environments


• Strong Infrastructure as Code experience


• Experience building and improving CI/CD pipelines


• Good understanding of observability, reliability and production engineering


• Experience automating infrastructure and engineering processes
  
• Comfortable working across cloud, networking, security and application infrastructure


• A software engineering mindset towards infrastructure and automation


• Someone who enjoys working in an environment where priorities can move quickly and engineers are given genuine ownership

You don't need to have worked with every technology listed above.

We're much more interested in engineers who understand the principles behind building reliable platforms and can make sensible technical decisions as an environment grows.

Experience within fintech, financial services, SaaS or another high-growth technology business would be particularly useful.

You’ll be joining at a point where the engineering organisation is growing quickly, but the Platform function is still small enough for your work to have a visible impact.

Rather than becoming one engineer within a huge infrastructure team, you’ll have the opportunity to influence tooling, architecture, developer experience and how Platform Engineering develops across the business.

There is significant engineering growth planned, so there should also be plenty of opportunity to increase your technical ownership as the team develops.
