Job summary

Altana seeks an experienced data engineer to design and operate distributed data pipelines powering its AI-driven supply‑chain platform. You will lead end-to-end data ingestion, modeling, and integration across government and enterprise customers.

Based in London, you’ll collaborate with engineering, ML, and product teams to scale solutions, improve reliability, and ensure security and governance across data pipelines. A strong emphasis on mentorship and technical leadership is required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of technical experience in data engineering or closely related roles.
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex data models from diverse sources.
• Led full lifecycle (Design, Development, Test, Deploy, Monitor, Maintain) of data ingestion pipelines.
• Strong focus on sustainable software development, self-healing data workflows, and data governance.
• Experience deploying software across AWS/GCP/Azure, managing EC2, S3, IAM, and Dockerized microservices.
• Experience mentoring other engineers on data engineering projects.
• Eligible for UK Security Check clearance or active clearance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with external customers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deploy and continuously improve distributed, big-data pipelines powering Altana’s network analysis and ML capabilities.
• Drive scalability and evolving requirements of the customer base.
• Support platform reliability, cost controls and security reviews/accreditations.
• Act as technical expert in client meetings bridging government requirements and architecture.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product managers in a cross-functional team.
• Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and best practices for data pipeline development.
