About Us

We are a premier, independent garden centre dedicated to providing our community with the highest quality plants and exceptional inspiration. We pride ourselves not just on our vast selection, but on the trusted, expert advice we give to our customers.

We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Senior Plantsman to join our team. If you live and breathe plants, love sharing your wisdom with others, and want to help gardeners of all levels succeed, we want to hear from you.

The Role

As our resident plant expert, you will be the heartbeat of our outdoor plant area. Your primary mission is to offer authoritative, friendly advice to our customers—helping them solve garden dilemmas, pick the perfect specimens, and create beautiful spaces.

When you aren't chatting with customers, you will use your deep horticultural skills to keep our plant stock in peak health and beautifully merchandised.

Key Responsibilities

• Expert Customer Advice: Provide tailored guidance on plant selection, soil requirements, pruning, and seasonal care.
• Plant Health & Diagnostics: Diagnose pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies brought in by customers and recommend effective solutions.
• Plant Husbandry: Maintain immaculate standards of care across our outdoor stock, including precise watering, feeding, pruning, and pest management.
• Visual Merchandising: Create stunning, seasonal plant displays that inspire customers and drive sales.
• Team Mentorship: Share your botanical knowledge with junior team members and seasonal staff to help raise the overall expertise of the team.
• Stock Management: Assist with checking in premium deliveries, pricing, and ensuring plant information labels are accurate and clear.

About You

• Horticultural Expertise: You hold a formal qualification (e.g., RHS Level 2/3 or equivalent) or possess extensive, verifiable practical experience in horticulture.
• Plant Identification Specialist: You have excellent knowledge of a wide range of trees, shrubs, perennials, and seasonal plants.
• A Natural Communicator: You can translate complex botanical concepts into simple, practical, and inspiring advice for everyday gardeners.
• Physically Fit: You are happy working on your feet outdoors in all British weather conditions and are capable of lifting heavy pots and compost bags.
• Retail Savvy: Previous experience in a garden centre or retail environment is highly desirable, alongside a flexible approach to weekend working.

What We Offer

• Competitive salary and staff discount scheme
• Free parking and uniform provided
• Opportunities for continued professional development and training
• A friendly, supportive, and green working environment
