Job summary

Durham County Council invites applications for two experienced Senior Planning Officers to join the Development Management Team. You will manage a range of planning matters from pre-application advice to determination and appeals, supporting high-quality, sustainable development across County Durham.

The role covers major developments including housing, commercial, infrastructure, renewable energy, and minerals and waste projects.

Qualifications

• Degree level or equivalent in town planning.
• RTPI professional qualification.
• Experience in planning and development management.
• Ability to work on complex and large-scale projects.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex planning applications from pre-application to determination and appeals.
• Work on major developments including housing, commercial, infrastructure, renewable energy, minerals and waste projects.
• Lead significant projects and mentor junior officers.
