Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited in Maidstone is seeking a qualified planning professional for a 3 month contract with a local authority. You will assess planning applications and breaches, provide professional planning advice, and contribute to development management services.

The role requires degree in Planning (or equivalent), MRTPI or eligible, driving licence, and strong knowledge of planning law. You will prepare reports, present cases, and mentor junior staff while supporting the Team Leader.

Qualifications

• Degree in Planning or related discipline (or equivalent).
• MRTPI membership or eligible for membership.
• Full driving licence and ability to travel across the Borough.
• Strong knowledge of planning law and policy.

Responsibilities

• Assess, appraise, and determine planning applications, appeals, and breaches of planning control.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for delegated decisions and Planning Committee determinations.
• Advise Planning Committee members and present cases at meetings.
• Represent the Council at appeals, hearings, and inquiries as required.
• Negotiate with applicants, agents, developers, and stakeholders for positive outcomes.
• Assist with validation of planning applications and pre‑application engagement.
