Job summary

Hyndburn Borough Council is seeking a Planning Manager (Development Management) to lead and improve the planning service. The post holder will handle complex applications, oversee enforcement, and drive customer-focused performance.

You will work with the Head of Planning and Transportation, ensuring efficient processes, strong negotiation, and effective engagement with residents, applicants and councillors. RTPI membership and leadership experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Member of RTPI with excellent knowledge of planning and development control.
• Experience in managing development control processes and teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and continually improve the development management service, including planning enforcement.
• Lead and handle complex planning applications.
• Manage people and budgets within the planning team.
• Engage effectively with residents, applicants and elected members.
• Collaborate with the Head of Planning and Transportation to ensure efficiency and customer focus.
