Job summary

Bovis is recruiting an experienced Senior Planning Manager for a major Defence Estate Optimisation Programme project in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. You will lead detailed programmes, manage planning tools, and coordinate with BIM and delivery teams to drive project success.

The role requires NEC experience, strong planning knowledge, and a track record on multi-million pound schemes in defence or built environment sectors. National security vetting applies.

Job description

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Planning Manager to join our team on a major public sector project in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, delivered through the Defence Estate Optimisation Programme (DEOP) Framework

The ideal candidate will have strong NEC experience, construction and planning technical knowledge with a history of leading projects of similar scale in the defence / built environment sector.

• The Senior Planning Manager leads and manages the planning and monitoring of large/complex projects throughout all stages, often providing experienced-based solutions for project delivery.
• A key function is to act as 'the project conscience,' preparing reports and documents to inform the Senior Leadership Team and Business Unit on programme matters and critical issues.
• They provide input into enhancing planning systems and processes and typically support or oversee junior planning staff.
• This level often coordinates the 4D BIM model with the BIM Coordinator and assists in chairing weekly planning meetings.
• Develop and maintain detailed project programmes using Primavera P6 and other planning tools
• Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Prepare accurate reports and forecasts for senior management and stakeholders. Facilitate planning workshops and maintain strong communication with Bovis managers, works contractors, consultants and client stakeholders.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, Experience & Behaviours

Skills:

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt approach dependent on the situation and audience.
• Produce reports and diagrams to a high standard to convey proposed sequences and methodologies.
• Strong use of Excel (use of formulae, pivot tables etc).

Knowledge:

• Expert / comprehensive understanding of construction methodology, building technology, pre-construction processes and procurement methods.
• Strong understanding of the primary forms of construction contracts and the key commercial terms.
• Working knowledge of P6.
• Strong knowledge of CPA planning techniques and project controls.

Experience:

• Previous experience in delivering projects with values of £30m plus.
• Able to draw upon experience in multiple industry sectors.
• Experience of working under different forms of construction contracts.
• Strong understanding and experience in the use of P6
