Job summary

Oxford City Council is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Lawyer to join its legal team. The role offers predominantly home-based work with monthly attendance at Oxford committee meetings and a salary in the £74k–£76k range (inclusive of a market supplement).

You will advise on planning law, policy and enforcement, work with a knowledgeable planning service, and handle complex matters while enjoying professional autonomy in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Strong technical planning knowledge.
• Ability to provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to stakeholders.
• Experience advising elected members and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Advising on complex planning matters and legal and procedural issues.
• Supporting elected members, agents and senior stakeholders.
• Working closely with an experienced planning service.
• Providing clear, practical legal advice on a varied caseload.
• Contributing to major projects and the Council’s wider strategic ambitions.
