Job summary

SEPA is seeking a Senior Planning Officer to lead integrated responses to environmental consultations and provide expert policy advice. You will support strategic and local planners, translating legislation and data into informed policy and development guidance.

The role focuses on robust evidence, strong stakeholder relationships, and flexible working arrangements to deliver outcomes for Scotland. The position sits within SEPA’s Evidence & Water Resilience portfolio, requiring expertise in

Qualifications

• Degree in Town and Country or Environmental Planning is required.
• Knowledge of the Scottish Planning System is essential.
• Strong analytical and communication skills are needed.

Responsibilities

• Produce integrated responses to EIA, LDP, SEA and other consultations reflecting environmental objectives.
• Advise strategic and local planners on policy and environmental objectives.
• Advise development management planners on implications of proposals and use robust evidence.
• Develop and manage the consultation process within policy and to relevant service levels.
