Job summary

CMR seeks an experienced Senior Planner (SC Cleared) to join our Derby-based, hybrid team. You will develop robust construction schedules, define EST basis, and work closely with Cost and Risk teams to align estimates.

The role requires strong Primavera P6 skills, NEC/FIDIC contract knowledge, and excellent stakeholder management. Immediate start with on-site 2 days/week in Derby.

Qualifications

• Experience in a construction or infrastructure environment.
• Strong scheduling and Primavera P6 proficiency.
• Excellent MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to build schedules from first principles and review supplier submissions.
• Understanding of schedule hierarchy, integration and change control.
• Familiarity with NEC or FIDIC contracts.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with a collaborative mindset.
• Proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop the schedule estimates for construction works ensuring they are robust, realistic and defensible.
• Define the Basis of Estimate for the construction schedule scope (including key assumptions and exclusions).
• Close integration with Cost and Risk Management teams to align estimates and assumptions.
• Work with the Risk team to support the QSRA process.
• Identify and manage key interfaces including procurement, consents, dependent projects.
• Engage with stakeholders to secure buy-in to the Programme’s construction schedule.
• Ensure schedule estimates are validated using benchmark data and design information (BIM).

You’ll

• Develop the schedule estimates for construction works ensuring they are robust, realistic and defensible.

• Work with the Risk team to support the QSRA process
• Identify and manage key internal and external interfaces including, procurement, consents, dependent projects, etc
• Work closely with key internal/external stakeholders ensuring buy-in to the Programme’s construction schedule
• Ensure schedule estimates are validated through the use of benchmark data, and design information (BIM)

Essential

• Experience in a construction or infrastructure environment.
• Solid scheduling expertise, including Primavera P6.
• Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Confidence building schedules from first principles and reviewing supplier submissions.
• Understanding of schedule hierarchy, integration, and change control.
• Familiarity with NEC or FIDIC contracts.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with a collaborative mindset.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement

Desirable

• Degree or equivalent in construction, engineering, project management, or related field.
• Knowledge of QSRA, design processes, and CDM.
• Experience in stakeholder management.
• Membership of APM, AACE, PMI or similar (with certifications).
• Experience using Power BI and other reporting/analytics tools.
