Job summary

VolkerStevin on Devonport Docks in Plymouth seeks an experienced Senior Planner with current SC clearance to support major civil engineering works. The role involves producing robust programmes and collaborating with clients and the supply chain on a long-term freelance assignment.

Reporting to Planning Manager and Project Lead, you will lead planning activities, manage risks, and drive recovery when needed, ensuring timely, compliant project delivery at a critical infrastructure site.

Qualifications

• SC clearance is required.
• Experience on major civil/infra projects is essential.
• Knowledge of construction methods and sequencing.
• Ability to manage programme risk and recovery.
• Commercial/contractual understanding is important.
• Confident with clients and supply-chain partners.
• Degree or HND is desirable.
• Professional membership (RICS/CIOB/RIBA/ICE/CIBSE) advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Producing and maintaining tender and contract programmes.
• Identifying programme scope, constraints and contractual requirements.
• Developing construction sequences and methodologies.
• Completing monthly updates, reports and programme submissions.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, SC-cleared Senior Planner to get involved with work down on Devonport Docks, and the framework long-term.

This is an excellent opportunity to support the delivery of major civil engineering works within a complex, highly regulated environment. Experienced Planners ready to progress into a senior role may also be considered.

The Role

About You

• Current SC clearance
• Strong planning experience on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
• Good knowledge of construction methods and sequencing
• Experience managing programme risk, change and recovery
• Sound commercial and contractual understanding
• Confident working with clients, project teams and supply-chain partners
• Relevant degree or HND desirable
• Professional membership of RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE or CIBSE advantageous

Working Arrangement

• 4-5 days onsite initially (reducing to 3-4 shortly after starting)
• PAYE Umbrella engagement
• Competitive rate: £500 - £600 per shift
