Overview

A Vacancy at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our Respiratory Outpatient & Cardiac Rehabilitation Service at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Physiotherapist to join a friendly and successful team. Respiratory referrals are received from Consultants, Specialist Nurses, GP’s, ANP's and other AHP’s. Patients are referred for airway clearance strategies, breathlessness management advice, including working with patients with dysfunctional breathing patterns, and education of patients in managing their long-term conditions. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Service at Chesterfield Royal Hospital is a Nurse-led Service with Physiotherapy input to the twice weekly Phase III exercise classes. There is a commitment to participate in the weekend Medical, Surgical and Respiratory rota and the post holder will also be required to participate in the Respiratory On-Call Service. Interviews will be held in-person only on site at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and class-based interventions both face-to-face and in a virtual setting.
  • Undertake assessment of dysfunctional breathing patterns, and implementing breathing re-training strategies
  • Educating patients with chronic respiratory diseases on breathlessness management strategies
  • Assessing patients who have difficulties with airway clearance. Providing suitable education and treatment strategies to assist the management of symptoms and improve management of the underlying condition
  • Identifying the need for and completing referrals to other services such as Exercise on Referral, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, IAPT services
  • Completing exercise testing and reporting results to the referrer
  • Developing and delivering education programmes to patients and the wider Physiotherapy teams
  • Attending Respiratory Multi-Disciplinary Meetings
  • To develop and deliver the Cardiac Rehabilitation exercise classes in conjunction with the Lead Physiotherapist and Cardiac Rehabilitation nursing team
  • Supervision and education of students and Therapy Support Workers across the wider Medical/Respiratory teams
  • There is a commitment to participate in the weekend Medical, Surgical and Respiratory rota and the post holder will also be required to participate in the Respiratory On-Call Service
Requirements

The successful applicant will have post registration experience of respiratory care, which should include experience of working on an Acute Medical or Surgical ward or in a Critical Care setting. You will be confident in the assessment and treatment of patients with complex needs and in working as part of the multidisciplinary team. You will have excellent communication skills and have the confidence to lead group sessions, both face-to-face and virtually. You will be committed to providing consistent, high standard patient care, with compassion, dignity and respect; putting patients at the centre of all you do.
