Senior Physiotherapist

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist to join our Community Neuro Rehabilitation Team (CNRT) in Southampton.

The successful post holder will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience working within our team.

This post is to cover maternity leave in the team and is a fixed term post of 18.75hpw, for up to one year.

CNRT is a friendly team that provides specialist community therapy intervention to patients with a wide variety of neurological conditions and presentations in the Southampton city and surrounding Hampshire region. The successful post holder will provide individualized programs of rehabilitation to patients of varying complexity, provide clinical specialism to the team as well as Team Lead support and guidance.

You will work closely with the other Physio's within the team as well as other multidisciplinary team members including Rehab Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists, Rehab Assistants and admin support.

You will receive profession specific and CPD support from Band 7 Physiotherapists within the service.

The post holder will have post graduate experience which should include some specific neurological clinical experience and relevant CPD as well as evidence of working within a multidisciplinary team.

This is a community post and therefore access to a car for community visits essential.

Main duties of the job
  • To work in our multi-professional team (CNRT).
  • Work in close collaboration with other relevant services/agencies e.g. acute rehab units, community rehab teams, virtual wards, rapid response etc.
  • Manage caseload of clients whilst working within the community and oversee caseload for rehab assistants.
  • Undertake assessment and treatment of clients, who have complex / and or chronic presentation requiring specialist skills and determine profession specific and multidisciplinary rehabilitation interventions.
  • Plan and implement comprehensive programmes of intervention for clients who require intensive rehabilitation in the community setting.
  • Work with clients to develop greater self-management of health.
  • To manage and organise the team's caseload when the team leader is absent e.g. attending the MDT meeting, scheduling work for self and other team members, providing specialist advise to team members and external agencies.
  • Carry out profession specific and general multidisciplinary rehabilitation procedures, many of which will require specialist skills and knowledge.
  • Supervise junior members of staff, rehab assistants and students on clinical placement.
  • Participate in and maintain own clinical professional development (CPD) by keeping abreast of any new developments e.g., active involvement in professional special interest groups and taking responsibility to incorporate into practice.
  • To actively contribute to team developments on a routine basis.

  • Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy, state registered.
  • Post registration course e.g. Stroke Rehabilitation, LTC management, Palliative care, Postural management, Continence Care.
