Job summary

Nexus Jobs Limited seeks a Senior PHP Developer to join our City London office. You will bring 8+ years of commercial PHP/MySQL experience on Linux, with a focus on database optimisation, caching technologies and scalable e-commerce platforms.

You will work just below the Tech Director, helping remove bottlenecks and drive technical direction. You will collaborate with an in-house development team on coding, spec writing, project planning, code reviews and architectural overviews.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial PHP and MySQL experience on Linux servers.
• Experience with database optimisation and caching technologies.
• Ability to lead development teams and provide technical direction.
• Knowledge of MVC, ORM, unit testing, HTML/CSS, and jQuery.
• Excellent English communication, both written and spoken.
• Advantageous: Apache ModRewrite, Linux command line, server admin, e-commerce, Smarty.

Job description

Senior PHP Developer – City London

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years commercial experience with PHP and MySQL working on a Linux server with good experience of Database Optimisation and Caching Technologies. You will sit just below the Tech Director and help perform some of the task that he does which are causing bottlenecks.

You will be working hand in hand with our passionate in-house developer team helping improve and grow, our high-end, scalable e-commerce platform. You will be expected to do development work, along with getting involved in spec writing, assisting PMs with project planning, code reviews, architecture overview and implementation and assisting with the Company road map.

You could either already be a Lead Developer/Development Manager etc. with full leadership over a development team.

Required Skills:

At Least 8+ years of Commercial Experience and Knowledge of:

PHP

MySQL, including database optimisation

LAMP

Linux

MVC, ORM

Unit Testing

CSS/XHTML

Caching Technologies, such as MemCached, Redis or Varnish

Ability to share and communicate ideas clearly, both orally and writing in impeccable English language

Capacity to work independently or as part of a team and operate to tight deadlines

Advantageous But Not Essential:

Great knowledge of Apache, specifically Mod Rewrite

Good working knowledge of Linux, including command line

Server administration experience

Salary will be £60K - £65K.
