Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Pharmacy Assistant to support the Pharmacy Technical Services unit across Aseptic, Radiopharmacy and Pre-pack areas. The role is 20 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday, with cross-site work and weekend/Bank Holiday rota.

The post involves assisting pharmacists and technicians, maintaining operator validation, and ensuring timely supply of prepared products for the Trust and external customers. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualificações

• GCSE in Mathematics and English to entry level standards
• NVQ 2 qualification in pharmacy services or equivalent

Responsabilidades

• Support Pharmacists and Technicians in providing high quality pharmaceutical services within the Aseptic production unit, Radiopharmacy and Pre-pack unit
• Maintain operator validation
• Compound aseptic medicines for the Trust and external customers including Cytotoxics, clinical trials, PCA's and OPAT
• Perform dose calculations for chemotherapy drugs and radiopharmaceuticals
• Pack, label and inspect over-labelled/repacked items; assist prioritising and allocating work across Chemotherapy, general aseptic and radiopharmaceutical units
• Communicate with service users to ensure timely supply of prepared products

A fantastic opportunity have arisen in Southend Hospital to join an organisation with a reputation for excellence in the way it cares for the people it serves. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Pharmacy Assistant to join the Pharmacy department!

The Pharmacy Technical Services Unit comprises the Aseptic Unit, Pre-pack unit, Radiopharmacy and Cytotoxic unit. Supervised by the senior technician in charge, the post holder will provide support services to the Pharmacy Technical Services department, including the ordering, receipt, storage and supply of Pharmaceuticals and other stocks, the manufacture of aseptic products in both the aseptic and cytotoxic unit.

You will also assist senior staff with support duties essential to the smooth functioning on the unit.

20 hours a week, Monday till Wednesday

There will be cross site working, early and late finishes, Saturday and bank holiday rota.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to work cross site, working early and late finishes and weekend and Bank holiday Rota.

To support Pharmacists and Technicians in providing a high quality pharmaceutical services within the Aseptic production unit Radio pharmacy and Pre-pack unit to meet the needs of the Trust and external customer requirements whilst following set departmental standard operating procedures

You will be required to maintain operator validation.

You will be responsible for the compounding of all aseptic medicines to both the trust and external customers including Cytotoxics, clinical trials, PCA's, OPAT, and other aseptically prepared products.

You will be required to perform dose calculations for chemotherapy drugs and radiopharmaceuticals

You will be responsible for packing, labelling and inspecting of over labelled / repacked items. The post holder will support senior staff with the prioritising and allocating of work for the Chemotherapy, general aseptic, radiopharmaceuticals.

You will communicate with service users to ensure timely supply of prepared products.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• GCSE or equivalent qualifications in Mathematics and English to entry level standards
• NVQ 2 qualification in pharmacy services or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience

• Previous experience in a health care setting
• Good numerical and keyboard skills
• Previous experience of Aseptic dispensing
