An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, flexible, and well-motivated individual who wishes to further their pharmacy career within the NHS as a Senior Pharmacy Assistant.
The position is varied and will include receipt and correct storage of drugs, stock control (including stock rotation, stock checks, and removal of expired stock), the supply of drugs including ward stock replenishment, inputting of orders onto computer systems, and assembly of orders. Responsibilities also include managing the supply of emergency drug boxes, receiving and processing telephone calls, and delivering stock to wards. The role includes accurately dispensing prescriptions and assisting with the receipt of prescriptions from clients and patients, input of medicines received, and managing non-receipt of medicines and actioning damaged medicines received from wholesalers and manufacturers.
The successful candidate will have experience working as a pharmacy assistant within a healthcare setting, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a good standard of education. Essential qualifications include NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills and GCSE grade C in Mathematics (or equivalent).
The main duties will include supervision and line management of Pharmacy Assistants (including performing yearly appraisals); accuracy checking of assembled stock top ups outputted from our automated pharmacy dispensing system or picked by pharmacy assistants prior to delivery; receipt and correct storage of drugs, stock control (including stock rotation, stock checks and removal of expired stock) in accordance with Trust policy; supply of drugs including ward stock replenishment, inputting of orders onto the computer system and assembly of orders from location or pharmacy robot in accordance with documentation; contributing to the management of a safe system for the supply of emergency drug boxes; receiving and processing telephone calls; delivery of stock to wards; accurately dispensing prescriptions under the supervision of a Senior Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist; assisting in the reception area with receipt of prescriptions from clients and patients in accordance with department policies; assisting the procurement team with input of medicines received onto the pharmacy computer system; managing non-receipt of medicines and actioning damaged medicines with wholesalers and manufacturers; and maintaining record keeping by appropriately filing procurement paperwork.
