Senior People Partner

Main duties of the job

The Senior People Business Partner (SPBP), is a key leadership role within the People Services team in the wider People Matters Directorate. The main purpose of the role is to drive the strategic People Services agenda across a designated portfolio and aligned hub, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive People services to all staff. The SPBP leads and develops the People Service Team, sets quality standards, and contributes to the development and implementation of the Trust's strategic aims and People Services strategy.

Key duties include providing specialist advisory services to managers on all People matters, championing organisational change and associated transformation projects, collaborating with external stakeholders (such as local authorities, commissioners, and trade unions), and navigating complex employee relations in a multi-unionised environment. The SPBP also deputises for senior leaders when required, leads on workforce planning, manages service change activities (including TUPE), oversees job evaluation processes, advises on complex employee relations issues, drafts and implements HR policies, and supports staff engagement, wellbeing, and leadership development initiatives. The role requires strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, as well as the ability to analyse workforce data, manage projects, and foster a positive, inclusive organisational culture all with a 'can-do' approach.

The People Services team is a close-knit, friendly and supportive team here in BDCT that sits in a wider People Matters Directorate comprising of other teams such as Payroll, Workforce, OD, Resourcing and EDI.
