Job summary

Starling Bank is seeking an experienced Penetration Tester to strengthen our cyber security team. You will conduct mobile, web, cloud and infrastructure tests, report findings, and help drive secure development across engineering functions.

You will mentor teammates, automate security testing, and stay current with evolving threats, contributing to improvements in processes and tooling within a fast-paced fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of technical information security experience.
• Experience in mobile, web application, cloud and infrastructure penetration testing.
• Strong foundation in mobile security (iOS/Android), web app security, networking and cloud security (AWS/GCP), and containers/Kubernetes.
• Experience performing code reviews or code-assisted testing, particularly in Java and Go.
• Automation of security testing (e.g. Python or Go).
• Penetration testing qualifications (e.g. CREST Certified Tester, OSCP) or equivalent industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Scoping and performing mobile, web application, cloud and infrastructure penetration tests.
• Collaborating with engineering teams to facilitate secure development, including reviewing and analysing proposed technical solutions to identify appropriate security controls, conducting code reviews, and advising on remediation.
• Automating security testing and developing internal tooling to achieve continuous assurance.
• Identifying and implementing improvements to the team's internal processes and procedures.
• Mentoring less-experienced team members and promoting a collaborative approach to security.
