Able Bridge Recruitment is recruiting a Senior Payroll Advisor for their Edinburgh office. The role operates on a hybrid basis with at least 3 days in the office, reporting to the payroll manager within a collaborative team.

Ideal candidates will have UK payroll bureau experience, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to service a portfolio of clients and manage HMRC submissions efficiently.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in a payroll/p bureau role.
• Experience with UK payroll processing and Pension contributions.
• Ability to compute tax, NI, and PAYE accurately.

Responsibilities

• Deliver payroll services to clients on weekly, fortnightly, and monthly cycles.
• Process payslips, pension contributions, and tax calculations.
• Provide pension billing, PAYE guidance, and HMRC reporting.
• Prepare and submit CIS returns and related submissions.
• Maintain strong client relationships and ensure timely payments.

The Company

Able Bridge Recruitment are working with a prominent accountancy practice in the recruitment of a senior payroll advisor for their Edinburgh office.

This vacancy, the result of forecasted growth will report into the head of department and will be office based for at least 3 days per week.

This role is a result of growth and will be based in the Edinburgh office on a hybrid basis. You will report into the payroll manager and will be working within a team of collaborative and collegiate colleagues.

The Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to provide payroll services to a portfolio of clients ensuring that all of your clients are paid on time and correctly. You will also be accountable for the correct processing of pension contributions for your client group as well as being responsible for the correct level of tax/employee NI contributions that are due.

On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following:

• Providing a payroll service to clients on a weekly, fortnightly, and monthly basis
• Uploading payslips and other information to SAGE online documents
• Processing employee information and preparing payslips
• Creating, evaluating, and submitting reports to clients.
• Reporting to HMRC on various issues
• Uploading pensions to the relevant pension provider each pay period
• Providing advice and guidance on the more complex aspects of payroll, pay and benefits to clients
• Advising clients of and PAYE liability due to HMRC
• Applying, deducting, and advising clients of any Earnings Arrestment's deducted
• Reporting to HMRC each pay period by the required deadline dates
• Reporting and recoverable statutory payments and Apprenticeship Levy to HMRCManual Calculations on all elements (Tax, NIC, Director NIC, Student Loan, Earnings Arrestment's & Pensions)
• We are an approved BACS Bureau - we are responsible for making salary & PAYE payments on behalf of our clients each month, by the required dates
• CIS - Preparation and submission of monthly CIS Returns and CIS Suffered submissions to HMRC
• Building effective and long-term working relationships with each of your clients

The Requirements

We are looking for an experienced payroll professional who is familiar with working within a payroll bureau environment (within the UK). We are seeking applicants who are based within central Scotland and who have good communication skills in both written and verbal form. Minimum experience levels we seek are 3 years in a payroll (bureau) capacity and demonstrable attention to detail. Candidates will need to be based in or around the Edinburgh/East of Scotland region and be able to commute to Edinburgh daily if required.
