Job summary

MHA seeks a Senior Payroll Associate in Peterborough to provide accurate payroll and Auto Enrolment services for a portfolio of clients. The role offers hybrid working after settling in and a competitive salary reflecting experience.

You will manage payrolls end-to-end, ensure deadlines are met, liaise with HMRC and pension providers, and support junior team members while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of Payroll and Auto-Enrolment legislation.
• Good communication skills to enable effective communication with clients and HMRC.
• Experience of working within a busy payroll environment or bureau.
• Ability to work on own initiative, while following procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Methodical and calm, with a solution-focused mindset.
• Strong organisational and time management.
• Can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
• Knowledge of Paycircle or Xero would be ideal, but not essential.
• Good IT skills (Word, Outlook and Excel).

Responsibilities

• To manage a portfolio of clients, providing payroll and Auto Enrolment services end-to-end.
• Ensure timely and compliant payroll delivery within deadlines.
• Collect payroll information efficiently and timetable work to suit client needs.
• Liaise with clients, HMRC and pension providers on payroll/Auto Enrolment queries.
• Process payrolls in line with procedures and legislation.
• Submit client payroll data to BACS.
• Deliver compliant Auto Enrolment provision to clients and providers.
• Support and mentor junior payroll team members.
