Job description

Do you have experience processing high-volume, end-to-end payroll across multiple contracts? Are you confident in applying National/Pay Agreements and managing associated calculations such as backpay?

The Opportunity

This role is responsible for delivering accurate, timely payroll across multiple contracts in a high-volume environment. You will work closely with the Payroll Supervisor and wider payroll team to ensure all payments, legislative requirements, and internal processes are completed to a high standard. The position also supports ongoing payroll projects, including system improvements and Year End activity.

2-Month Fixed-Term Contract (with potential to extend)

Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Process end-to-end payroll across multiple contracts within designated timeframes.
  • Administer pay in accordance with various National and Pay Agreements.
  • Review and apply pay rate increases in line with National/Pay Agreements, including calculating and processing any required backpay.
  • Process new starters, leavers, and any associated payments.
  • Calculate redundancy payments.
  • Calculate and process statutory and occupational payments.
  • Audit peer work to ensure accuracy and provide constructive feedback where required.
  • Support the Payroll Supervisor in analysing and finalising all payrolls and payments, ensuring accuracy before payroll sign‑off.
  • Produce and analyse reports for various departments across the business.
  • Respond to payroll queries promptly and professionally.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure clear communication and timely delivery.
  • Follow and enforce established payroll policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Assist with ongoing payroll projects, including the implementation of a new payroll system.
  • Support Year End duties, including (but not limited to) the Tax Year End process, Benefits in Kind, and production of P11Ds and annual increases.
  • Maintain accurate, high‑standard records and filing.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll and pension legislation, including Benefits in Kind, Tax Year End processes, and mandatory reporting requirements.
You will have the following qualifications & experience
  • Payroll experience in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel skills.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of payroll and pension legislation and HMRC reporting requirements.
  • Recognised CIPP payroll qualification (not essential).
  • Understanding of National Agreements, particularly NAECI, JIB, and CIJC.
