Job summary

New Wine Trust Limited in Harrow, Greater London, seeks a lead pastor to oversee Rayners Lane Baptist Church. The role centers on wise spiritual direction through expository preaching, loving pastoral care and faithful discipleship within a diverse church family.

You will work with the Associate Pastor, Children and Families Ministry Lead, and the Deacons to guide church activity, foster gospel growth and strengthen community outreach and safeguarding practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Rayners Lane Baptist Church team by collaborating with the Associate Pastor, Children and Families Ministry Lead, other ministry workers and the Deacons to head up specific church activities.
• Encourage the growth of whole-life disciples of Jesus through gathered worship, fellowship, prayer and teaching.
• Develop and proclaim the gospel through word and deed, offering regular opportunities for people to explore faith and grow as disciples.
• Model and encourage pastoral care and friendship within the fellowship, develop the pastoral care team, and ensure good safeguarding practices.
• Uphold and learn from our mission partners worldwide to be effective witnesses in our multicultural context.

Description of Job

Main purpose:To bring wise spiritual direction to the fellowship through faithful and inspired expository preaching, loving pastoral care and encouraging confident discipleship and outreach. More specifically:

• To be the leader of the team ministry at Rayners Lane Baptist Church leading the church by working with the Associate Pastor, the Children and Families Ministry Lead, other ministry workers and the Deacons as they head up specific areas of the church’s activities.
• To encourage the growth of whole life disciples of Jesus inspired by the life and ministry of the church family and specifically through times of gathered worship, fellowship, prayer and teaching.
• To develop further ways of proclaiming the gospel in word and deed in the life of the church family and to offer regular opportunities for people to explore faith in Jesus, to become Christians and to grow as disciples.
• To model and encourage pastoral care and friendship within the fellowship and develop the pastoral care team, guiding the pastoral care deacon in their ministry and ensuring good safeguarding practice.
• To uphold our mission partners around the world and to learn from them so that we can be more effective witnesses in our multi-cultural context.

We are a multi-cultural, evangelical church family in Rayners Lane, Harrow, focused on preaching God's Word, doing what it says and making disciples equipped for everyday life. Our congregation is made up of people from various ages and ethnic backgrounds and we aim to love God and each other, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

We engage with our local community through Toddlers and school assemblies, and partnerships with Christians Against Poverty (CAP), London City Mission (LCM) and Foodbank. We are dedicated to welcoming others, sharing the gospel, and supporting overseas mission.
