Job summary

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Ward Manager in the Children's Ward. You will lead the team, ensuring high standards of patient care and family-centred support while directing clinical governance and service improvement initiatives.

The role requires extensive post-qualification nursing experience, leadership in paediatrics, and strong collaboration across the division. Training and development are tailored to individual needs.

Qualifications

• Current NMC registration.
• Post registration course in specialty.
• Degree or working towards degree level.
• A minimum of 5 years post registration experience.
• A minimum of 2 years leadership experience; specifically in the speciality setting.
• Holds registered mentor or teaching qualification.
• Working towards masters level study.
• Clinical supervision experience.
• Experience of working with electronic health records.
• Experience of the peri-operative setting.

Responsibilities

• As Ward Manager, be highly visible to children, families and staff to improve family care.
• Oversee the children's ward and children's elective care with leadership.
• Lead service and quality improvement programmes and resource management.
• Support development and maintenance of high standards of patient care and delivery.
• Provide visible clinical leadership and enhance patient experience.
• Mentor and train staff; manage emergencies with credibility.
• Collaborate with Matron/Associate Director in governance and operations.
