Job summary

Freedom are seeking a Senior Design Engineer (Protection & Control) to join our Leeds team on a hybrid arrangement. You will design protection and control schemes for substations up to 400kV, create AutoCAD drawings, and develop PSL logic and relay settings.

The role requires leadership of engineers and close collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams. Permanent position with a competitive salary, car/car allowance and flexible benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (2:1 or above).
• Chartered status preferred or close to achieving chartership.
• 8–10 years' experience in electrical protection and control design.
• NEBOSH or similar health and safety certs may be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design Protection & Control schemes for substations from 11kV to 400kV using AutoCAD.
• Produce P&C specifications and logic drawings for SCADA/substation automation.
• Generate PSL logic files and relay settings for various relays.
• Lead and mentor engineers; manage senior and junior designers.
• Collaborate with Power Systems, Primary and Civil teams; liaise with clients.
