Job Description

Join our dynamic Nature team as a Senior Ornithologist across the UK & Ireland. The role involves supporting bids, planning projects, delivering consultancy, developing solutions, providing data for habitat assessments, communicating with clients, authoring deliverables, and maintaining team performance.

  • Support preparation of high quality bids for ornithological services in renewable and infrastructure sectors;
  • Plan, schedule and organise all phases of bird survey and analysis projects, ensuring resources, budgets and controls are in place to meet programme and budget requirements;
  • Deliver ornithological consultancy and advisory services to internal and external clients;
  • Develop technically robust and pragmatic solutions to complex ecological issues across bird habitats;
  • Provide bird data and analysis for Habitats Regulations Assessments;
  • Communicate effectively with the ecology team, projects and clients via telephone, electronically, Teams and face‑to‑face meetings;
  • Author and/or technically check project deliverables to ensure high quality outputs;
  • Maintain team performance and skill sets.
Qualifications
  • Proven track record of supporting planning and delivery of ornithology projects in the UK or Ireland;
  • Well‑developed understanding of UK or Irish wildlife conservation and related legal and policy frameworks;
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution and evidence of working towards chartership (e.g., CIEEM);
  • Excellent field skills in at least one specialist area of ornithology;
  • Proactive approach to Health and Safety.
