Job Title: Senior Oracle Application Engineer

Pay up to £57,946 - £68,205 plus 28.97% employer pension contributions, hybrid working, flexible hours, and great work life balance. DWP Digital with Purpose.

As the largest payer in the UK, we support 22 million citizens and process around £280bn in payments every year, generating a third of all UK BACS transactions. We ensure people receive the right money, at the right time, in the way that best meets their needs.

Key responsibilities
  • Work on the Central Payment System – a highly customised Oracle EBusiness Suite application underpinning payments and accounting for the Department's Benefits systems.
  • Maintain, support and enhance complex customisations and integrations with the core Oracle platform.
  • Provide technical support, resolve issues and support system integrations and architectural decisions.
  • Champion best practice across the department, guiding teams to deliver high‑quality, reliable applications.
  • Own delivery, quality and performance of applications and software solutions.
  • Work closely with Architecture and Engineering teams to design stable, resilient, robust, and operationally sound Application services.
Required skills, knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrable experience as an Oracle Developer with in‑depth knowledge of E Business Suite Financial modules – General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payments, Sub Ledger Accounting, and Cash Management.
  • Ability to review requirements with stakeholders, use agreed standards and tools to design, code, test, correct and document programmes or scripts of medium to high complexity.
  • Experience coordinating build activities and supporting functional, integration and performance testing.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills; quickly identify patterns across huge volumes of data to perform root‑cause analysis of high‑priority incidents/issues and propose resolutions.
  • Extensive experience delivering robust Oracle E Business Suite solutions, including SQL/PLSQL development, OAF personalisation and extensions, Oracle Reports/XML Publisher, APIs, interfaces, web service integrations, workflow configuration and performance tuning to support secure, scalable enterprise applications.
