Location: London (Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days remote)

Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum

The role

As a Senior or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take a lead role in the delivery of mechanical design solutions across a range of building services projects. You will be responsible for technical leadership, design management, and coordination, as well as supporting the development of junior engineers within the team.

Key responsibilities
  • Leading the mechanical design process across commercial, residential, educational, and data centre projects.
  • Managing and coordinating design activities from concept through to completion.
  • Ensuring design quality and compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and client requirements.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to project and design engineers.
  • Contributing to project planning, resource management, and delivery timelines.
  • Liaising effectively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.
About you

The successful candidate will be an experienced and driven mechanical design engineer with a proven track record in building services consultancy environments. You will demonstrate strong technical capability, project leadership skills, and a collaborative approach to design and delivery.

Essential skills and experience
  • Degree‑qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards Chartership.
  • Significant experience in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects.
  • Comprehensive understanding of UK Building Regulations, standards, and sustainable design practices.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and client engagement skills.
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary design teams.
