Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer or in a closely related role delivering on complex projects.
• Experience with modern technical delivery processes and software like BIM, Revit, Electrical OM, Dialux and Relux.
• Demonstrable experience working with clients/contractors/architects in a design-oriented/consultant role.
• Self-awareness, openness and a collaborative, generous attitude.
• Experience mentoring others to build knowledge, skills and confidence.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day technical delivery of electrical design for multi-disciplinary projects across sectors.
• Lead development of initial strategic concepts ensuring alignment with brief and regulatory standards.
• Regularly interact with internal and external stakeholders; attend project meetings and translate briefs to the project team.
• Collaborate with the team leader to monitor fee expenditure, resources and work delivered.
• Mentor and support junior professionals, including apprentices and graduates.

About The Role

We have a brand-new opportunity for a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team based in our Cardiff office and work as part of the largest independent consulting engineering firm of its kind. Joining at an exciting period in the Hoare Lea Cardiff journey, in our new City Centre Office. You will join a talented, dynamic, and diverse team of designers, engineers, and technical specialists with a unique working culture. Our team is large enough to work on large national and international schemes yet agile enough to allow significant talent growth and career progression. As a Senior or Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and delivering designs for a range of project types and sizes. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and consultants delivering design solutions of the highest standard for our clients, while securing repeat and new business opportunities. A critical aspect of this role is to support and develop a team of technically competent, collaborative, and highly engaged team members. In this key and varied role, you can expect to:

• Be responsible for the day-to-day technical delivery of the electrical design services for multi-disciplinary projects across several building sectors.
• Lead the development of initial strategic concepts for projects ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards.
• Interact regularly with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a communicative, collaborative and timely approach to delivery This is a client-facing role, so you will be attending project meetings and disseminating/translating the brief within the project team.
• Work with the team leader to help monitor fee expenditure, resources and work delivered.
• Mentor and support our ‘next-gen’ professionals, including apprentices and graduates.

About You

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

• Proven experience working as an Electrical Engineer or in a closely related role, with a track record delivering on a variety of complex projects.
• Experience of modern technical delivery processes, and use of relevant software/tools such as BIM, Revit, Electrical OM, Dialux and Relux.
• Demonstrable experience working with clients/contractors / architects in a design-oriented / consultant role.
• Self-awareness, an open mind, and a spirit of generosity
• Experience in supporting others to develop knowledge, skills, and confidence.
