Job summary

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Advanced Specialist Optometrist to join the Ophthalmology team. The role focuses on paediatric ophthalmology and medical retina, delivering advanced assessments and management in a multidisciplinary setting across our two main sites: KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford.

You will undertake refraction (cycloplegic and non-cycloplegic), fundoscopy, and media checks, working closely with consultant

Qualifications

• Experience in advanced optometric assessment and management.
• Specialist knowledge in paediatric ophthalmology and medical retina.
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced optometric assessments, refractions and media checks.
• Carry out fundoscopy (direct/indirect) as required.
• Collaborate with consultants, orthoptists and nursing staff to deliver care.
• Contribute to development of extended optometric practice and service improvement.
