Job summary

IC Resources is seeking a Senior Optical Systems Engineer in the United Kingdom to lead fibre-optic sub-system development, including high-power optical amplifiers, spanning R&D, prototyping and early-stage production.

You will manage small project teams, collaborate with optical, mechanical and electronic engineers, and support build and test activities from prototype to validation, ensuring on-time delivery and customer-aligned results.

Qualifications

• Experience in optics or photonics development.
• Hands-on work with fibre-optic or laser-based products.
• Ability to manage technical and commercial aspects of development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of fibre-optic sub-systems, including high-power optical amplifiers.
• Manage small project teams and deliver programmes on time and within budget.
• Work across multidisciplinary teams including optical, mechanical and electronic engineering.
• Support prototype build, assembly and testing of fibre-optic and opto-electronic systems.
• Carry out fibre splicing, system integration and lab-based validation.
• Develop and execute test plans for functional and environmental verification.
• Engage directly with customers on specifications, results and technical direction.
• Deliver technical reviews and produce clear project documentation.
• Build internal collaboration across engineering and commercial teams.
