The Role

James Fisher Renewables is seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to join our team as Senior Operations Manager – Transmission Systems. This pivotal role is responsible for the operational leadership, P&L performance, and service excellence across a portfolio of transmission infrastructure projects.

You will oversee the integrated delivery of asset management, operations, inspection, and maintenance services for onshore substations, export cables, and offshore platforms. A primary focus will be the UK OFTO portfolio, alongside similar high-value transmission infrastructure projects.

We are looking for a strong track record in operational execution, continuous improvement, and stakeholder engagement.

Our office is based in Bamber Bridge, Preston and this would be our preferred location, but we will consider experienced profiles from across the UK.

Role Accountabilities

• Direct the performance and growth of the transmission systems portfolio, ensuring alignment with company objectives and market opportunities.
• Own full P&L responsibility, driving profitability through efficient operations, cost control, and resource optimisation.
• Oversee the delivery of integrated asset management services across substations, export cables, and offshore platforms, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with a focus on capability building and succession planning.
• Serve as the senior point of contact for key clients, managing relationships, leading contract negotiations, and ensuring exceptional service delivery.
• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to all regulatory and industry standards across operations.
• Work closely with engineering, planning, and product teams to deliver technical solutions and support strategic decision-making.
• Contribute to tendering and innovation efforts, identifying new service opportunities and enhancing delivery models to support portfolio growth.

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

• Proven expertise in transmission infrastructure operations and asset management.
• Strong background in offshore wind transmission systems and OFTO operations.
• Demonstrated success in regulated utility environments, delivering operational excellence will be beneficial.
• Experience managing complex, multi-site operations with full P&L accountability.
• Skilled in setting and delivering medium- to long-term strategy, budgets, and resource plans.
• Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline; IEng/CEng registration desirable.
• Postgraduate or professional qualifications (e.g. Chartered Engineer) preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in engineering roles within international businesses.
• Solid understanding of the offshore and wider energy sectors.
• Strong management experience with a track record of team development and performance.
